It’s safe to say, that for most of us, it’s not every day we meet someone who genuinely inspires us, and connects with us through an unbelievable life story which evokes every possible emotion. Of course, some films or a song can have a huge impact and alter our outlook and perception on certain aspects of life, but this can often be short-lived. For Jordana Stringer, one of the Elite Artists at Karen Betts Professional, the Katie Piper ‘It Gets Better’ luncheon was the day which left her feeling truly inspired and awestruck.

Taking place at the Institute of Directors, in London, on Wednesday, 23rd September, the luncheon invited members of the Katie Piper Foundation, affiliate organisations and celebrities (including Cheryl Fernandes-Versini, Rochelle Humes and Caroline Flack) to come together to celebrate the charity and the work which is carried out to help change and transform people’s lives every single day.

Looking back on the day, Jordana says how emotional she felt as Katie told her story; “Katie was so brave and inspiring. She talked about how she turned her life around and now helps people who have experienced similar things or situations in their life.”

Jordana was especially inspired by Katie when she spoke about how she stopped thinking about herself as a victim, and started to believe she was a survivor. When she was introduced to Katie, she was further inspired by what a genuine and beautiful person she was inside and out. No pretence what so ever!

It was a great day out of the clinic for Jordana. Don’t get us wrong, Jordana loves performing eyebrow and eyeliner treatment at clinics in Yorkshire and Chesire, but having the opportunity to meet Katie Piper, hear her story and network with all of the attendees at the luncheon, as well as enjoying a tasty lunch, was a fantastic experience.

Jordana said; ‘I truly love my job and meeting different people every day. Sometimes I am genuinely overwhelmed with how much a treatment means to someone. Giving someone who has experienced hair loss, new eyebrows, is such an overwhelming experience, when they look in the mirror and see how they look, it can be a really emotional and rewarding experience. Meeting Katie, and knowing that Karen Betts Professional has supported and worked with a wonderful charity, makes me feel so proud that we can help inspire further confidence and help change lives, along with the charity work which is being carried out.”

Over the years, we have worked alongside numerous charities and used medical tattooing as a means to help people gain confidence and in circumstances improve their whole outlook on life. Karen Betts has personally worked closely with Katie Piper through the Katie Piper Foundation to provide treatments for people who have burns and scars, as well as offering treatments to other members of charitable organisations including Alopecia UK, Caroline’s Campaign and The Haven.

We always feel honoured and privileged to be in a position to work with charities in a bid to make people feel happier and more empowered in their lives.
