January
It was a night of flashing cameras, classy drinks and gorgeous gowns for Karen, as she attended the esteemed National Television Awards at the O2 in London. After a full day of permanent cosmetics training at her Yorkshire academy, Karen and her partner Dave, sped off to the capital to join a host of celebs in a private box at the star-studded event.
Following Karen’s successful ‘Gift of Confidence’ evening the previous November, more and more magazines were discovering and reporting on her extensive talent within the industry. January’ publications included ‘Frame your Face with Karen Betts’ in Fab Magazine, articles in Salon Magazine, Frost Magazine and an insightful and intensive interview with Karen, revealing her typical working day and career highlights in Thinkers Lifestyle Magazine.
February
In February Karen flew to Moscow, Russia, to present at the ultra-prestigious event – The VIII International Conference on Permanent Make-up, on a subject very close to her heart… medical-related charity work, using permanent cosmetics for the benefit of others.
March
Throughout the year Karen travels the country working in medical clinics and salons helping people coping with illness, injury or disfigurement, so was delighted to be back at the Jersey Breast clinic in March.
April
In April Karen jetted off to Atlanta, Georgia, for the Society of Permanent Cosmetic Professionals (SPCP) 23rd Annual Convention and Trade Show.
Later in the month she was invited to be a guest speaker on ITV’s Lorraine talking about the importance of clients researching their permanent makeup artist.
May
May saw Karen and her permanent makeup training academy, NouveauContour, attend the anti-ageing show at Olympia as well as her client and friend’s fundraising event – the Caudwell Children’s Charity Ball
June
In June Karen won the first of the awards she was nominated for: The First Woman Awards, and later in the month headed to Las Vegas and Berlin before returning for her second successful Insight Day for people interested in becoming one of her elite permanent makeup artists.
July
In July Karen held another of her extremely popular Pro Tips seminars in London for technicians trained through the Nouveau Contour academy before flying to Estonia for another international permanent makeup conference.
August
August marked the beginning of yet more international jet-setting for Karen, starting with the Nouveau Contour PMU World Conference in Florida where she spoke on cleft lips and burns to full audience of industry professionals.
September
September was a very busy month for Karen starting with a cleft lip presentation and hair stroke brow demo at the Permanent Makeup International Conference in Slovakia. This was followed by the Olympia Beauty Show, The Gift of Confidence Hair Loss event, charity work at the Jersey Clinic and finishing with a launch day for her lashes brand LVL.
October
In October Karen headed stateside for the SPCP Fall Conference in Philadelphia where she trained 130 people on a full day workshop on eyebrow tattooing.
She then went to the Clinical Cosmetic & Reconstructive Expo to present on medical tattooing, held another jam-packed Insight Day and attended Pro Beauty North along with her enterprise of brands. She then ended the month with an industry first – holding the first ever CPCP exam outside of the USA, giving her artists a unique accreditation.
November
Amsterdam was the first stop in November for the Nouveau Contour PMU World Conference where Karen led a presentation on client retention and cleft lip work. She was then joined by co-director and close friend Bridgette Softley to check out the latest beauty innovations at Cosmoprof Asia in Hong Kong.
She was also involved in some filming for a show to be aired in 2015 (we’ll keep you posted!).
December
The end of the year presented Karen with a fantastic surprise, as she was crowned ‘Woman of the Year’ at the Natwest Every Woman awards. She will then top off the year by letting her hair down with over 180 of her staff at the annual Christmas Party.
Without a doubt 2014 has been a year to remember and Karen would like to personally thank all her staff, associates, clients, friends and family for all their continued support and wish them a very Happy New Year.
