BUPA registered beautician, Karen Betts is renowned across the world for her expertise in permanent make-up and medical tattooing. After individuals have experienced physically deforming events in their lives, such as the side-effects of cancer treatment, Karen can literally tattoo back on their confidence to the affected areas.

Karen’s work is unprecedented in both the beauty and medical sector and is also the MD of the largest permanent make-up training school in Europe, ‘Nouveau Contour’ which trains thousands of individuals in these specialised ‘micropigmentation’ skills.

On Monday 6th February 2012, as part of Caroline Monk’s Campaign Cancer Makeover for Valentine’s Day, Karen has offered her expertise to treat five cancer sufferers to cosmetically tattooed eyebrows which have been lost through chemotherapy. This charity pamper day, sees Karen bringing her beauty team from the prestigious Harley Street to the Denise Lebar Hair-Loss and Beauty Boutique also in London. The women will have a full day of pampering, before they will be taken to a London Hotel to join their families and showcase their new look. Celebrities and supporters of Caroline’s Campaign will also join in the celebrations to make the day extra special.

This event has been organised by cancer sufferer, campaigner and current ‘London Personality of The Year,’ Caroline Monk. Caroline knows all too well, like many of Karen’s current patients, how devastating the effects of chemo are on a person’s physical appearance and confidence – this includes the loss of head hair, eyebrows and eyelashes. These symptoms serve as a constant reminder of the disease and can make coping with the illness very difficult. This special charity event will see these deserving women pampered in our Capital City following other successful similar events in Manchester, Birmingham, Liverpool and Leeds.

Karen Betts’ passion and determination to change lives coincides and parallels with Caroline Monk’s fantastic cancer charity work and we hope that Karen’s expertise and skills continue to make a positive change to the confidence and lives of these women who have been affected by the disease.

Caroline Monk says: “Losing your hair is about so much more than personal vanity – it is how other people perceive and treat you. Helping people with cancer is not just about finding cures and funding research; it is about caring for the people who go through it. Chemotherapy can take away all that feels feminine, but if you look ill you will feel ill, if you look fabulous you will feel fabulous, and that is exactly how we will make these women and their families feel at the end of this special Valentine’s Day treat. Permanent make-up looks so natural that it really can transform women back to how they looked before they had undergone any cancer treatment.”

Karen Betts says: “I am more than delighted to be providing my services in permanent makeup for this fantastic charity event. I support a range of cancer charities, including Breast Cancer Haven and Breast Friends, so I am more than aware of the difference my treatments make to these women. It is set to be a poignant, positive and uplifting day for all involved and it is an utter pleasure to be a part of it.”
