Why you should really care what type of pigments your permanent makeup artist is using

I pioneered permanent makeup here in the UK over 20 years ago. Since then, I’ve treated thousands of people across the country and numerous celebrities and prestigious clients worldwide.

I’m still leading the way when it comes to developing new treatments and products, and I’m one of a very few elite artists in the UK that is recognised by the Society of Permanent Cosmetics Professionals in the USA – something I feel very proud of.

Noticing a pattern

Over time, I began to notice that the pigments available to me and my fellow technicians were not giving PMU artists or clients across the world the results they wanted.

I spent many years listening to feedback from other people’s clients and found out that their permanent makeup was healing with unwanted warmth (orange tones), or fading unnaturally. I had a lot of knowledge to be shared from my experiences working on a vast array of skin tones and types, (which many technicians don’t get the privilege of doing daily).

Making a positive change

I decided to take matters into my own hands and enlisted the help of professional scientists to create my own range of pigments. Don’t get me wrong, there are some excellent pigment ranges out there, but I felt I could add something special to the market. After years of formulating and testing, my K.B Pro Pigments were launched around the world, and to great acclaim, too. I was delighted!

Never mind the X-Factor, in my world the secret is in the Fade Factor! Those of you who have been having PMU treatments for many years may have experienced unnatural colour changes as your tattoo has faded out. Unfortunately fading cannot be avoided (simple daylight is the main cause amongst other things), but ideally your brows, eyeliner or lip colour should simply become a lighter version of the original tattooed shade. Orange brows be gone!

Why my pigments are world-class

My K.B Pro Pigments have been a game-changer within the permanent makeup world. They provide a beautifully even healed result. This means that minimal work is necessary at the retouch appointment (appointments to touch-up your brows and keep them looking amazing). They fade out naturally over the course of 12-18 months, which sees you through to your Colour Boost with ease. My range of pigments have been carefully selected to ensure that there are suitable colours for everyone, but the range isn’t so vast that the choice becomes daunting. You will witness beautifully natural results every single time you have a treatment, and the healing process will be a breeze due to great ingredients such as humectants, which hold on to moisture and prevent the dreaded dryness and itching as the skin recovers. They are also vegan friendly – I do not use animal products and I most certainly never test on our furry friends!

I am so proud to tell you that K.B Pro Pigments have won ‘Best Pigment Range’ at the Micropigmentation UK Awards for the past 3 years running, and continue to win accolades all over the world.

The danger of unprofessional pigments

I cannot stress enough how important it is to find out exactly what your permanent makeup artist is tattooing into your skin. Pigments unsuitable for the face can result in unnatural healed colours, but more worryingly, they could also cause infection. It’s a costly mistake that doesn’t just affect your pocket, but your health too. Make sure you find an accredited artist who is happy to share the information on the pigments they use with you. Your health is never worth compromising, so please do be very careful about who you trust.

Choose your artist wisely

My team of Elite Artists are highly respected within the industry. Most of them lecture at my Academy as well as at exhibitions all over the world. Some of them have even sat on the judging panel at the Prestigious Micropigmentation UK Awards. Needless to say, whether you choose to have your treatment with me or one of my team, you can rest assured you are in safe hands.
