This month I wanted to share with you a couple of stories about some of the women in my life, who inspire and support me. I wouldn’t be where I am today without these wonderful ladies and if I’m being honest there are so many women I work with, have met throughout my career and see every day that inspire me, it has been hard to choose just a handful – but I’ve shared a lot more photos on my Instagram so make sure you’re following me to see all of my girls (@karenbettsoffical).

I couldn’t write this blog without mentioning my Mum; One of my earliest childhood memories is sitting on the end of her bed and watching my mum apply her make up, so delicately and beautifully, it really was the start of my obsession with beauty. She’s a woman of many talents, her and my Dad actually had a touring stage act many moons ago – I like to think she passed her confidence and fun-loving nature onto me. She’s been there since day one and throughout my career she’s been a cheerleader, regularly visiting my salon (Chaplins) when I first started, and now she loves her regular A-Lift facials courtesy of my Nouveau Skin therapy team. When I look at how beautiful she looks today, at the age of 73 (soon to be 74), she really is as beautiful as ever – no botox or fillers – just a happy, and fully living her life. I hope I look like her when I’m her age!

Another woman who’s been in my life for a long time is Jane Tindall. If you’ve visited me in any of my clinics you will’ve probably met Jane – she’s the lovely lady with the numbing cream! She’s my best friend, always by my side, always supporting me and always making me laugh. When I come up with a crazy idea for a new treatment or product, she’s always the first to volunteer to try it. She’s that friend who knows too many of my secrets – she keeps joking that she’ll write a book about me one day.

Then there’s Suzanne Parkes my business mentor: Suzanne walked into my clinic over ten years ago as my client and has since become one of my closest friends. We’ve had some amazing experiences together and one I will never forget is being introduced to Richard Branson, who is one of my biggest business inspirations. We actually went to Necker Island together, that’s a trip I will never forget – ticked off the bucket list.

I also have to mention the beautiful Antonia Mariconda. I have huge admiration for what Antonia has done for the beauty industry; we both have very similar ethics, and the changes she has made in the industry have impacted peoples lives for the better. I’m proud to call her a friend, and we always have fun when she comes to my clinics for her brows.

Over the past few years I’ve worked with the Katie Piper Foundation a lot, and not only had the pleasure of working with Katie, but providing treatments for some of the amazing women her charity helps. Their strength and kindness in the face of such adversity is inspiring.

Then there’s all the amazing women that work for me: My Elite Team are not only the best of the best in permanent makeup, but they’re some of the kindest, hardworking women out there, and I’m proud to have them all represent me.

Finally, I can’t not mention my right-hand woman Steph Hornsby, she is not only my PA & Project Manager, but a friend and confidant – if I didn’t have her I’m not sure I’d know where to be on what day.

This post is about the women who have made an impact in my life, and I’m sure a lot of you reading this will also be able to relate to similar friendships and memories too. As a female enrapture I celebrate all women and all types of friendships – however they end up in your life. So why not say thank you to the women in your life and remind them how much they mean the world to you.
