Welcome to my new blog post! Today I’m talking all things Microblading! Although microblading is a popular treatment these days, there’s still a little confusion about exactly what microblading is and what it involves. Read on to find out more.
What is Microblading?
Microblading is the name given to a permanent makeup technique that uses a state of the art microblading tool which has a selection of minute needle configurations that create tiny, precision hair strokes on the brow area when used with a cosmetic tattoo pigment.
I personally use my K.B Pro Glider that I created myself to perform my microblading treatments. I wanted to ensure that I could give my clients the most perfectly realistic, hair stroke brows using a range of movements that I could only usually get from a digital tattoo machine. The Glider lets me combine several types of movement for the ultimate natural-looking brows.
Microblading has really increased in popularity over the last few years. Once a treatment we’d only see on our favourite celebs, microblading has now become an attainable and well-loved treatment for clients of all ages. Thanks to the gorgeously natural results that microblading offers, it’s perfect for those who favour a more subtle but defined finish.
How does it work?
Using the microblading hand tool, I mimic the natural direction and lengths of your brows to create a channel for my specialist KB Pro pigments to sit in. I specially created my pigments because I just couldn’t find what I wanted from the pigments currently on the market. I spent a lot of time perfecting the colours and analysing how the colour faded over time – to ensure the pigments would seamlessly blend in with any existing brow hairs and fade out naturally over time. It was also important to me that my pigments didn’t leave behind any unwanted warm residue.
After I’ve created the channels, I implant my pigments into the dermal layer of the skin using the channels as my guide. As with all permanent makeup treatments, you can expect your microbladed brows to look 20-30% darker than the colour you will have chosen during your consultation, so don’t panic! Rest assured, this will fade 3-4 days later to reveal your chosen colour. Trust me, the results will be beautiful!
How long does it take?
Your microblading treatment will take around 1-2 hours and you will need to return to the clinic for a colour boost treatment approximately six weeks later. This can vary from person to person, but we’ll give you an accurate timeline during your consultation.
Who is Microblading for?
Microblading is perfect for clients who want an ultra-realistic looking brow. I always recommend it to clients who want to wake up with gorgeous definition to their brows that doesn’t look unnatural if they decide they don’t want to wear other makeup. It’s the perfect treatment if you want that ‘I don’t know what’s changed but you look amazing!’ reaction from your friends and family!
The treatment is much better suited to dry to combination skin types rather than oilier skin. This is simply because oilier skin does not retain microbladed pigment quite as well as digital cosmetic tattooing. Don’t worry if your skin is on the oilier side, after a thorough consultation we can advise you which would be the best method for you and recreate the same effect as a microblading treatment for you.
