Despite being one of the industry’s most respected permanent makeup professionals, Karen is never one to shy away from the opportunity to exchange ideas and cast the seeds of new educational concepts.

That is why this week she jetted off to Atlanta, Georgia, for the Society of Permanent Cosmetic Professionals (SPCP) 23rd Annual Convention and Trade Show.

The SPCP is the largest non-profit organization for the permanent cosmetic industry that is owned, operated, and controlled by its domestic and international members since its inception in 1990. It provides industry certification, provides educational events and materials and actively supports fair industry legislation.

Karen first attended the ‘Train the Trainer’ pre-convention programme, presented by past SPCP president, Marjorie Grimm. It gave Karen the opportunity to network with other permanent makeup professionals and speak on particular subjects to enrich the programme with new ideas.

The convention also comprises of a silent auction, product presentations, a Certified Permanent Cosmetic Professional (CPCP) exam and many other seminars covering topics from the latest innovations in breast reconstruction to advanced concepts for exceptional lip colour.

Karen intends to transport all the new ideas and innovations she has been discussing at the convention, back over the pond, to her training academy, Nouveau Contour, where her team of dedicated trainers can cascade the latest industry knowledge and techniques to their students.
